2010 TIGP Summer Internship Program

 

About TIGP

In 2002, in order to cultivate international talents and to help promote the internationalization of higher education in Taiwan, Academia Sinica (http://www.sinica.edu.tw/) established the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP; http://tigp.sinica.edu.tw/) in collaboration with local research universities. The all-English teaching and research environment, together with state-of-the-art facilities and world-known faculty, provides an intellectual educational environment for international talents who wish to pursue a graduate study in an advanced setting. Currently, TIGP offers 9 interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs in cutting-edge science research fields:

1.  Chemical Biology and Molecular Biophysics (CBMB) Program:

2.  Molecular Science and Technology (MST) Program

3.  Molecular and Biological Agricultural Sciences (MBAS) Program 

4.  Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) Program 

5.  Bioinformatics Program (BP)  

6.  Nano Science and Technology (NST) Program:   

7.  Molecular Medicine (MM) Program

8.  Computational Linguistics and Chinese Language Processing (CLCLP) Program

9.  Earth System Science (ESS) Program

 

TIGP-SIP

The TIGP Summer Internship Program (TIGP-SIP) was launched recently to provide visiting overseas students with an opportunity to become familiar with the research environment and graduate programs offered by Academia Sinica.

 

·          Eligibility:

The internship is open to overseas applicants of the following status:

(1) students who are currently studying at an overseas university

at a level of third year or above, or studying in a master degree program

(2) non-students who already obtained a B.S. or Master Degree

 

·          Application

Duration: 1st week of Jan. ~ Mar. 5, 2010

·          Internship duration: 8 weeks (Jul. 1 ~ Aug. 31, 2010)

 

·          Internship location: Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan

 

·          Financial support:

1. 1/2 of the airfare for a round-trip at economic class

2. TIGP and the sponsoring PI will provide around NT30,000/month for up to 2 months (20% tax will be deducted)

(If you have applied for admission to TIGP 2010 fall semester previously, please use the same account and password to log on to the TIGP-SIP on-line application system.) Alternatively, should you encounter problem with the on-line system, please download and fill out the application form and send it to TIGP Office along with all requested documents before March 5, 2010. Please be reminded that applications received after the deadline may not be processed.

Program specialties:

n          Applicants should be non-PRC and non-ROC citizens, with high school diploma and have average Chinese language ability. (Better submit Chinese proficiency test certificate when applying; or at least able to write short articles.)

n          It is a 4-year bachelor degree program; required courses are delivered in Chinese.

n          International students graduate with identical diploma as Taiwanese students.

n          For required courses, int'l students are taught separately; for elective courses, they are with native students.

n          After graduation, international students can choose to: 1) teaching Chinese in worldwide countries; 2) working in business sectors using Chinese; or 3) continuing academic research in Chinese related fields. All are with promising futures in a world requires talents with Chinese language ability.

ROC Ministry of Education (Taiwan Scholarship), and the university provide several scholarships for foreign students, supporting them during the four-year bachelor study period.
