NTHU Degree Programs Open to International Students

Tsing Hua Academy which was instituted at Tsing Hua Garden in Beijing in
1911 was renamed National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) in 1928. It was
then reinstalled in 1956 in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Since its reinstallation, NTHU
has developed from an institute focusing on nuclear science and
technology to that of a comprehensive research university offering degree
programs ranging from baccalaureate to doctorate in science, engineering,
humanities and social sciences, as well as technology management.

 One of the top 2 research-intensive universities in Taiwan
 NTHU was awarded 1 billion NT dollars each year in the first 2 years
of the Ministry of Education’s “Five- year, Fifty- billion” plan. During
the next phrase, due to excellent performance, NTHU will receive 1.2
billion NT dollars each year in the next 3 years.

NCKU Outstanding International Student Scholarship

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was founded in 1931. It is located in the historical city of
Tainan. It is a leading comprehensive university in Taiwan with more than eighty departments in nine
colleges: Bioscience & Biotechnology, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Engineering, Liberal
Arts, Management, Medicine, Planning and Design, Sciences, and Social Sciences. To know more about

In October 2005, the Ministry of Education of Taiwan (R.O.C.) selected NCKU one of the two target
universities to receive extra funds for “moving toward a world-class university”. The NCKU graduates

The University provides on campus accommodation, Tutoring Assistant Program and NCKU Outstanding
International Student Scholarship to encourage international students in the endeavors. NCKU is also

Master's degree in Taiwan Studies at NCCU

The College of Social Sciences at National Chengchi University offers graduate training leading to a master's degree in Taiwan Studies.

The International Master's P rogram in Taiwan Studies (IMTS) aims to bring a broad interdisciplinary humanistic and economic focus to the study of the complex society in Taiwan.

The IMTS Program is designed to be a two-year English-taught program that provides an intensive exposure to the politics, economy, space and environment, cultural and social formations of Taiwan. Some students who have other commitments choose to complete this program over a longer course of time. Students who plan to enter related professions, mid-career professionals, and those who plan to enter doctoral programs in related fields are encouraged to apply.
